Independent network consultancy testing and analysis company Miercom recently put Cataleya’s Orchid One through their rigorous industry-standard evaluation process before awarding the product a Performance Verified Certification.
Orchid One, a Network Session and Application Manager, (an enhanced Session Border Controller (eSBC)) is deployed by SmartIPX to support the growth of our Wholesale Voice Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering.
Tests confirmed the limits and quality of concurrent calls with media of various codecs, encrypted calls, and response to suspicious requests and denial of service (DoS) attacks. Also verified was failover and quality of service (QoS) for the endpoint.
Key Findings and Observations:
- The Cataleya Enhanced SBC (eSBC) Orchid One delivers impressive call-handling capacity: Tests confirmed that it can handle 512,000 concurrent registrations, 200,000 calls without media, and 100,000 calls with full RTP media, all on a sustained basis.
- The system exhibits a high level of resiliency, successfully fending off over a dozen malicious assaults and Denial-of-Service attacks. What’s more, in an active-standby configuration, an eSBC Orchid One fail-over resulted in just a single failed call.
The deployment of Orchid One is an example of the commitment given by SmartIPX to our clients to ensure their customers in turn receive the highest possible level of service.
CEO Paul Tindley says: “We use Orchid One to deliver enhanced quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) for our mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) and service provider customers around the globe.
“The Network Session and Application Manager gives us the ability to monitor QoS and QoE in real-time which enables us to deliver a differentiated network management performance.”
