The road ahead for Platform as a Service (PaaS)
Telecoms is in transition to a full cloud environment, where rapid deployment, reliability and technology upgrades will become a de facto standard – including Platform as a Service (PaaS). This opens up a wealth of service possibilities not feasible under more traditional “stove pipe” telecoms scenarios.
Legacy fixed access copper pair phones are still used in the majority of UK residential voice services offered by Service Providers (SP) in the UK. Recently however there has been a number of new access mediums based on packet based line access through Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) or mobile routes, primarily 2G/3G/4G but also Wimax and other Air to Fixed point technologies.
Older Time Division Multiplex (TDM) technologies used for voice services are now at end of life and are being replaced by more up to date soft switch architectures that use IP derived services and elements. Voice telephony can now be offered as a simple web based application, generically termed as Platform as a Service (PaaS) residing within the Application Layer.
SmartIPX has the experience and deep understanding of how PaaS is evolving along with required technical and process adoption to optimise PaaS as a scalable and quality driven resource. In our latest white paper we examine the science behind the service.
